Before the work · Know what to discuss
A new roof is more than a shingle color. Before choosing materials, talk through the existing roof, the areas that need attention and the work included in the proposal. Photos help connect the recommendation to your own home.
Ask which roof areas are included, how removal and disposal are handled, and how decking discovered during the work will be documented and priced. Identify flashing, ventilation and gutter coordination in writing rather than assuming every proposal covers the same details.
Bring photos of the siding, trim and any exterior changes you are planning. Review the actual product and color selection before ordering. Product availability, installation requirements and warranty terms depend on the selected system.
Discuss driveway access, parked vehicles, pets and anything fragile near the house. Ask how schedule changes and unexpected findings will be communicated, and keep a copy of the agreed scope for the final walkthrough.

Before the work · What to know
We look at the whole roof: the wood deck under the shingles, the metal flashing, how water runs off, and the attic ventilation. Your estimate spells out what's included and what we can't see until the old roof comes off.
Look at the shingle next to your siding, brick and trim. Colors look different on a screen, on a small sample and on a whole roof in the sun. Your written estimate will name the exact shingle and color, so there's no guessing.
Sometimes we find rotted wood or other problems once the old shingles are off. Before we start, we'll explain how we'll photograph it, price it and get your OK before fixing it. No surprises on the bill.
Let us know about your driveway, cars, landscaping, and anything outside we should protect or work around. The schedule depends on the weather and the size of the job. When we're done, we clean up and walk you through the finished roof and the warranty paperwork.
