Before the work · Know what to discuss

Choose windows opening by opening.

Start with the rooms, the existing window types and what you want to improve. Andersen, Pella and other manufacturers offer different choices; the useful comparison is the exact product and installation scope proposed for each opening.

Describe how you use the room

Tell us which windows stick, fog, feel drafty or no longer suit the room. Discuss operation, appearance, screens and any preferences for the view or ventilation. Photos of both sides of the opening can make the first conversation more useful.

Read the opening schedule

Ask the proposal to identify the windows included, the selected product, sizes and operation. Clarify which trim, wrapping and finishing tasks are included, and whether any interior finishing is separate. Do not assume every replacement method has the same scope.

Connect it to the exterior plan

If siding is also being changed, discuss the sequence and the work around each opening. Ask how unexpected conditions will be reviewed before extra work proceeds. Keep the final selections and product documentation with your project records.
